Barbara Burgess has appeared on CBC’s “Breakaway” and “All in a Weekend” to talk about her books and literature. Her articles and writing have been published in QWF Writes, The Anglican Journal, The Quebec-Chronicle Telegraph, and Font magazine. She has led writing workshops in Quebec, most recently in Rimouski, and has given numerous talks at libraries in Quebec and BC. Burgess received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from McGill University, where she also pursued graduate studies specializing in medieval English literature. Her thesis supervisor studied with C. S. Lewis at Oxford University. Her first book, The Magic Manuscript: Book One - Voyage to Eve Ilion, was published traditionally by Piraeus Books LLC. She is the author of three books set in Cacouna, in the Lower Saint Lawrence region of Quebec: The Cacouna Caves and the Hidden Mural: Book One in the Cacouna Saga and its French translation LE MYSTÈRE DES GROTTES DE CACOUNA, the novel Crossover (which includes books two and three in the Cacouna Saga), the novella Time Will Tell (book four in the Cacouna Saga). She also wrote The Complete Adventures of Bergsteiger the Great Himalayan Bear; Ludwig the Piano-Playing Parrot & Other Tales; Idun’s Tale: A Survivor of the Medieval Plague; and a book of poetry, Light in the Wind. The author is a member of the Quebec Writers’ Federation and ELAN. She is a freelance publicist for Canadian authors, an editor, and an English and history teacher. She has also taught meditation and chanting seminars and appeared on CBC to talk about meditation and chanting.
